  1. Lisa Carver’s New Book

    December 7, 2011 by vicky

Lisa Carver has written a new book. It has no title; we are simply referring to it as __________. This coffee-table sized book has many glossy full color paintings and lots of words on practically every page.

    This is the book cover:

    Catcher Gets Caught

Lisa Carver's new book has no title and never will

This is the dust jacket copy:

There are plenty of child prostitutes—10 million every year, according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control (America has the third highest number of child prostitutes in the world.).

There are plenty of people who can write so you feel like you were there. Up to 160,000 new memoirs every year, according to The New York Times.

Well, here’s an intersection of the two. Here’s what it feels like to be four years old getting shoved into a car by your father to do whatever the stranger wants.

Plus what it’s like to have no memory, and to be confronted with your own bizarre behavior that you can’t explain, and to wake up in the emergency room or a stranger’s room and not know how you got there.

And then what it’s like when you find those memories— what truly murderous rage feels like, and then to find out what love and happiness and sand and calm and kissing feels like.

    … what feeling feels like.

Lisa doesn’t trust publicity but she wants people to know what she did, which is why vickywheeler.com is here.

  5. Contest Winners Announced

    December 15, 2011 by vicky

    Lisa says:

Malifick Satyrino wins! There were so many correct answers to the subjective question of what is this book you’ve never read about, but I am quite depressed and enraged—I suppose by Christmas, and by this book coming out—and I feel very exposed and like I’m going to get hunted and stoned, naked. Not on marijuana. And Malifick’s answer was the one with the best ending, and I want a best ending. He described the unseen book as “pariah recluse werewolf meets his/her double and saves the world.” And that really is true. He wins number one of the first 100 numbered books, for free! However, the closest four runners up have first option at 2, 3, 4, and 5 numbered books at half-price, because they were so good: Neal D Retke, Jim Richardson, Mattias Ivarsson, and Stacie McCoy. The rest of you, thank you! I WAS just planning on using this as a place-setting for when I got the book in my hands and could enter the barcode and get the cover and official description all automatic and I wouldn’t have to say anything, but it’s still in transit. So here you go!

  7. Lisa Carver Bio

    December 8, 2011 by vicky

Lisa Crystal Carver lives in the woods of New Hampshire with her two children. In the ’80s and ’90s, Lisa challenged audiences worldwide with the punk performance outfit known as Suckdog. She is also well-known (not to say notorious) for creating the groundbreaking, seminal Rollerderby zine (1989 – 1999), and the cult of Generation L. She has been published in major print and online magazines. ___________ is Lisa’s fifth book. Her other books are Dancing Queen, Rollerderby: The Book, The Lisa Diaries, and Drugs Are Nice. This is a really incomplete bio because Lisa didn’t want us to write one. She is totally wiki-able.
